Why this work exists
Catalog Servicehub began with a recurring problem in scholarship selection: committed committees often received financial documents in forms that were difficult to compare. Irregular wages, social grants, shared housing and family support could be misunderstood when reviewed as isolated entries.
Our purpose is to make the financial reasoning clear. An assessment should tell a committee what the evidence supports, what remains uncertain and how material circumstances affect the household’s realistic contribution.
People and practice
Our Durban team brings experience in financial review, grant administration and evidence-led case assessment. Engagements are led by a named evaluator and checked by a second reviewer where the scope requires it. We maintain confidentiality, declare conflicts and work to the scholarship body’s published criteria rather than inventing new eligibility rules.
We do not promise mathematical certainty where life is untidy. We ask proportionate questions, document judgement and avoid treating unfamiliar household arrangements as suspicious by default.
Principles we work by
Relevance
We request only records that bear on the decision. Identity documents and bank statements are handled through agreed secure channels, never through the public enquiry form.
Consistency with room for context
Comparable circumstances receive comparable treatment. Material exceptions—such as a recent retrenchment or sustained medical cost—are examined and explained rather than hidden.
Independence
The commissioning organisation receives an honest finding, including limitations. The final scholarship award remains its decision.
Based in Durban, serving nationally
Reviews are ordinarily completed remotely for scholarship organisations throughout South Africa. Committee briefings can be held online, while in-person work in KwaZulu-Natal is arranged where the engagement calls for it.
